The silicone is applied directly over a scar, it forms a thin, flexible, semi-occlusive (partially sealing) sheet on the skin's surface, this traps moisture against the scar tissue, the increased hydration signals the skin to slow down its production of collagen. Excess collagen production is what causes raised, thick, or discolored scars. As collagen production normalizes, the scar flattens, softens, and fades in color; with consistent daily use over weeks or months, the scar becomes smoother, lighter, and less noticeable.
